DESIGN EMERGENCY KIDS WORKSHOP Saturday 13th
Saturday 13 August at SupaCenta, Moore Park.
Children aged 8-12 years old are invited to join the Design Emergency workshops that use design thinking skills to solve problems, make prototypes and present back their big ideas. The sessions will include guest designers from WORKSHOPPED 16, working with the smalls groups, to share their creative knowledge and experience during the Design Emergency process. Anna Freeman and Ricardo Lima from Velce will be guests on 6 August, and furniture and lighting designer Tom Fereday on 13 August.
WORKSHOPPED is an annual exhibition for new and established designer work – products, furniture and lighting. Now in its 16th year, WORKSHOPPED plays a key role in supporting and promoting Australian design and designers.
Design Emergency is a workshop program that introduces children to design, and design thinking skills. It helps them understand the way designers work and equips them with the same tools to help them improve the lives of their family, school and wider community.
Design Emergency demonstrates how design can effect positive change in the world. By equipping children with creative problem solving skills, giving them confidence to take risks and enabling them to seize opportunities that draw on their extraordinary capabilities for innovation.
