Tom Dixon has forged a unique path in the design world, establishing a genre all his own. Known for his innovative exploration of materiality and technique, he consistently pushes the boundaries of conventional design. From London to Milan, Cologne, and Sydney, I've had the pleasure of meeting with Tom Dixon on several occasions over the years, and today we explore some of his work through the lens of my trips.

Tom Dixon has hubs in London, Milan, Hong Kong, New York, Tokyo, Shanghai and Hangzhou, but if you are in London and love design you simply must visit Tom Dixon's HQ and Showroom at "Coal Drops Office, Bagley Walk, London - the home for Tom Dixon’s latest experiments, innovations and collaborations.
Unexpectedly perfect attire for my visit to Tom Dixon's showcase and store.
The entire space is really is more like an exhibition than a store or showroom! Iconic pieces mixed with new innovations in a fully contained world of Tom Dixon.
The new version of the iconic Tank Series is truly beautiful, and has found a very happy home here at top3 by design.
I took a series of images of some of our favourite pieces while at the Coal Office. Here is the brass Bone Bowl - large resting beautifully on the Flash table in Pebble Stone.
Throughout the space there were many installations showcasing his lights. This was the first time I saw the floor standing Melt fat floor cone light - which has now arrived to Australia. A real blend of art and functional design.
Taking a breather by the new round Slab tables and stools, which have now arrived in Australia too.
Tom Dixon and I at one of his International hubs, the Manzoni in Milan is a working restaurant where he puts his work to the test in a real environment.
From Tom Dixon regarding the space: 'An experimental space, a theatrical backdrop for the best of Italian food and British design expressed in a Restaurant, Showroom and Shop.'
This photo of the Cork Dining Tables and Fat Dining Chairs also taken at the Manzoni Restaurant. We have the last remaining few round Cork Dining Tables in Cork available at top3.
A long-time favourite is the Spin Candelabra. Use dinner candles or tealights. The movement is mesmerising and where it gets its very apt name!

Tom Dixon with an installation of the Melt Chandelier in Milan to celebrate 20 Years of Tom Dixon Studio. Such a wonderful achievement!
The Melt pendant is inspired by molten glass, formed by an industrial blow mould and the advanced field of vacuum metallisation.

Drinks in Milan are always a good idea.! Add a band and Tom Dixon and you have quite the party!

Tom Dixon don't exhibit at IMM Cologne Furniture Fair, but are showcased in a wonderful space on the top floor of Permanent Design Hub - opposite the Exhibition Centre in Cologne. Naturally, we took a visit!
Tom Dixon on the top floor of Design Post in Cologne showcased both new releases and classics. Tom Dixon Bell Table Lamps now available in Australia!
We had a fabulous time exploring and playing with the new melt portable series of lights (which had not yet landed in Australia at that time). We are delighted to say they are most certainly now available in Australia and ready to ship - as many of you know! ✨

When in France... French fries! (in Sant Tropez no less).
Even though Saint Tropez was fab, and I had never been there before, so certainly worth a visit (the beach bars were next level... we found this place when driving the winding mountain roads at night and getting close to midnight and the lovely people got us a room - and we woke up to this! (We couldn't see a thing when we arrived in the dark). Not a design-destination to be sure - but a gorgeous view for breakfast! I do love those unexpected delights Location: Hotel Lac et Forêt between Nice and Lyon.

On our way over to Europe one year we stopped off for a couple of days in Dubai. Caught in the lobby - a huddle of Fans 🤣 Tom Dixon Fan Chairs.
The Spring Pendants are a really dramatic piece that is not bulky and with it's airy lightweight structure - still allows for the view . And the soft shadows created in the evening are beautiful. Use as a single statement piece or create a cluster.
A hidden gem of a rooftop bar in Saint Tropez, Hotel de Paris (thanks JMC for the tip!). Seconds after taking this picture, this cheeky seagull swooped down and stole an ENTIRE burger from a plate. Fries not good enough for you little one?
Driving through Southern France in a convertible is definitely a travel highlight I highly recommend!

My son, Zac, took this photograph, featuring the Tom Dixon Melt, Mirror Ball and Spring pendant lights that we have as an installation in our Sydney Showroom. Pictured here above the Janua Basket Table in European Walnut and brass base, designed by Hoffmann Kahleyss.
