In the late 1960s, Hans Gustav Ehrenreich created the 'happy movement' that has since found a place in Danish design history. There is a happy Hoptimist for every occasion, and you can always find a Hoptimist who wants to please wherever it ends up. Spreading joy and putting smiles on everyone's lips is the whole idea behind the Hoptimist.

“Workers were top of his mind. Where some Danish designers built quality affordable furniture that combined form and function and bettered the lives of the middle class, Ehrenreich built the working folks figurines.” - says Poul Christoffersen, Hoptimist brand manager

The designer behind the original Hoptimists, Gustav Ehrenreich, would have made his Hoptimists from wood if he had the production facilities to do so. In 2011 his old dream was realised, when the Oak and Smoked Oak Hoptimists first saw light of day. In 2020 the Raw Oak finish was also added to the collection. The wooden Hoptimist is a 'forever' gift.⁠
