Sanctuary captures the beauty of the rainforest in one small vessel. Mosses are an intriguing, delicate and beautiful plant species that Botanica has chosen to highlight in this range. Sanctuary maintains a controlled environment so no matter what your climate, you can enjoy a bit of easy care nature indoors. A unique alternative to flowers as a gift or to add touches of greenery to a home or office.
Perfect for small spaces, desktops, bookshelves and wet areas, Sanctuary comes with mister, micro fibre cloth and template to trim the moss to the perfect size.
care: Use water and your microfibre bag to clean the lid. Do not use any chemicals to clean Sanctuary parts.
Mosses are small flowerless plants that typically grow in dense green clumps or mats, often in damp or shady locations. Sanctuary highlights the beauty of these tiny bryophytes and draws you in to its perfect, miniature world. Follow these simple steps to get your Sanctuary started.
Lets keep it simple!
Collect a piece of beautiful moss.
- Cut it or gently break apart to create a circle approximately 7x7cm. Some overhang is fine.
- Place it over the base (S-LUX) or reservoir insert (S) and gently tuck in the edges.
- A splash of water in the base, but not so that the moss is standing in water.
- Mist the moss to lush it up.
- Place the lid.
Luckily, your Sanctuary will mostly look after itself. All you need to do is:
Mist every few days or when moss is looking dry. Always use rainwater or distilled whenever possible for your plants, especially delicate ones.
Keep a bucket outside for collection and you are on the right path to simulating a happy mossy environment in your Sanctuary. If moss is damp and you notice any discolouration in the foliage keep the air vent open and move to an area with a little more light for a while (avoid direct sunlight).
Moss does go through cycles of its own depending on the variety so join our mailing list for regular info and updates.
most of all… enjoy!
Note regarding sourcing Moss
Different varieties of moss can be found everywhere if you take the time to look. Even in urban areas, so no need to take moss from protected and national parks (this is not cool and mostly illegal!). Chill out on a relaxing walk around your neighbourhood and collect a nice lush piece for your Sanctuary. Even brown, dry moss can be returned to life in a few hours of deep rehydration. You can clean the moss before you use it but sometimes you get exciting surprises if you just let it be… like mushrooms and tiny flowers.
If you are unable to collect your own moss, most florists should be able to assist or point you in the right direction.
