Dan Barnes + Wes LaPorte
A few years ago, they watched a shocking report on TV that claimed mobile phones were contaminated with fecal matter. They wanted to find out if the report they heard was true, so they headed into the lab to test their phones for themselves. Their results proved the average phone is 18 times dirtier than a public bathroom.
They wanted to develop a safe way to sanitize their phones, but it couldn’t add to busy routines or take away screen time. They knew that labs and hospitals use UV-C light to sanitize, so they launched a Kickstarter campaign to put that same power inside the first PhoneSoap.
They knew they had a great product, and other people agreed. After appearing on NBC’s Shark Tank, co-host Lori Greiner invested in them, and they’ve sold more than 100,000 PhoneSoap units. They’ve continued to grow and add to their product line, but they're still run by a lean, dedicated team. Everything they do is still focused on using technology to make our lives healthier.
