This particular table is in BELVEDERE HARD STONE
(The Atlas Table is Made to order in Germany in many stone or timber options).
PETROGRAPHY: The black parts consist of fine-grained conglomerate containing transparent quartz, some feldspar and the colouring black biotite-mica. The bright, more or less large lenses are composed of coarsely crystalline, transparent grey quartz and white feldspar. Any yellow to light brown pigments are made up of limonite, an iron oxide.
PETROGENESIS: Paragneiss rocks originate from sandy-clayey oceanic deposits. In the course of the time, layers solidified into clayey sandstones or sandy argillaceous shales. It was only under high pressure and temperatures during the folding up of mountain ranges in the past, that crystalline and, in most cases, clearly directionally orientated rocks were generated.
AGE: 570 million years (Precambrian)
