At the core of Studio Acustico is the desire to solve the challenge of noisy spaces. A lack of noise makes for a serene environment where one can focus and feel calm. This is achieved through a perfect combination of adding colour, texture and shape through materiality, ambient light and of course noise absorption and diffusion. It is their intention that a Studio Acustico light adds an elegant layer which adds to your space both aesthetically and acoustically.

It is important to them that their products have value to its users. They make in Australia, in small batches, thus eliminating the ‘sell lots and fast’ mentality that seems to have consumed our world’s retail sector. They use predominantly Global Green Tag certified VPF materials and have an agreement with their suppliers that 80% of materials can either be recycled or repurposed.

The Studio Acustico design team were recipients of a prestigious Gold Good Design Award (2019) and a 2018 international LIT Award for Pendant Lighting Award.

Director Samantha McKenzie’s personal story plays a big part in the conception of the business. The silver lining to dealing with vestibular migraine, was her raised awareness of the negative impacts of noisy spaces. She gathered local craftspeople and spent two years in research and development, focused on human centred design and the desire to create an acoustic lighting collection with triple impact – to make spaces look, sound and feel better.

‘I always start with how I want a space to feel. Design is not just about the visual elements, it needs to cater to all the senses,’ says Director and Interior Designer, Samantha McKenzie.
