The Tom Dixon Melt Pendant Light is designed to create mood as much as illumination. Developed with Swedish design collective FRONT, its softly distorted form captures the visual effect of molten material mid-flow, giving each piece a sense of movement and unpredictability.
What appears to be hand-blown glass is in fact something quite different. The shade is made from polycarbonate, formed through a blow-moulding process and then treated with a specialised metallised finish. This is what gives Melt its unique dual character. When switched off, it reads as a highly reflective mirror. Once illuminated, it transforms, revealing a warm, glowing interior with a fluid, almost organic depth.
Available in a range of finishes including copper, chrome, gold and smoke, and in multiple sizes, Melt works equally well as a single sculptural piece or grouped into a cluster for greater impact. The light it produces is soft and ambient, designed to add atmosphere rather than dominate a space.
It’s lighting with a strong presence but an easy versatility. Reflective and architectural by day, warm and immersive by night.
