Unleash your wild side with the bold and beautiful 'Serpentine' umbrella paying homage to the 'Year of the Snake'. The striking black canopy features intricate snake and floral illustrations, symbols of transformation, renewal, and good fortune, inspired by Chinese folklore and nature.

Designed by the talented illustrator Bridget Daulby, 'Serpentine' boasts a striking black canopy adorned with intricate illustrations of snakes and florals. Snakes, symbols of transformation and renewal in many cultures, are elegantly entwined with delicate orchids, cacti, camellias, peonies, and tazetta daffodils - floral emblems of good fortune and new beginnings. This design beautifully honours the Year of the Snake with its bold and meaningful artistry.

Classic is the original full length umbrella, inspired by tradition and designed for the future. Classic is ideal for impromptu protection in a serious downpour – en route to work or school, or walking the dog.
This iconic, full-length stick umbrella can withstand all elements, day in, day out. Engineered with every element considered, the Classic is designed to endure and be handed down through generations.

When rain clouds threaten, and you have places to be, carry the Classic. Offering full coverage in a refined style, the Classic protects against wind, rain and shine, and tucks comfortably under your arm when there's a break in the weather.

The Classic’s high-tensioned canopy provides full comfort and shelter, even during those all day downpours.

Coverage: 120cm (serious protection for one, just enough for two).

Open Diameter: 120cm
Closed Length: 84cm

Each Blunt umbrella is made up of four primary modular components – the canopy, frame, shaft and handle. This thoughtful and innovative design allows for easy repair and maintenance.

CANOPY
The iconic and uniquely shaped canopy is the cumulative effect of six patented Blunt tips which act like mini umbrellas at the edge of the canopy. This evenly distributes tension from the frame into the canopy edge, and eliminating the need for sharp points. The canopy’s tautness – especially at the edge – provides a rigid wing-like surface that withstands all wind conditions. The canopy is simply attached to the frame with Velcro tabs, allowing it to slip off with ease once detached from the six Blunt tips. This makes for easy removal when remedying wear and tear.

FRAME
The Blunt umbrella frame features a unique strut mechanism that stresses the ribs, creating an effortless outward tension in the canopy as the umbrella is opened. The frame is the most complex part of the umbrella, with multiple components. Think of building blocks seamlessly fitting together in harmony, clicking into place to create a sturdy, reliable structure.

SHAFT
The shaft is the central point of connection within the umbrella framework, acting as an anchor to bring all of the modular components together.

HANDLE
Like a bayonet fitting on a lightbulb, the handle can be removed and attached by pushing down and gently turning while keeping the umbrella shaft still.

CARE
Looking after your Blunt umbrella is key to increasing its lifespan. Here are a few simple tips and tricks for keeping your umbrella looking and performing at its best.

NEW: Leave your new umbrella open overnight. Just like stretching your muscles, expanding the opening mechanism will result in a quick and easy opening every time.

DRYING: Allow your umbrella to completely dry after being in the rain to reduce the chance of mildew and stains forming. Leave your umbrella fully open in a dry area until no moisture remains. If space is limited, your umbrella can be dried standing with the handle facing up and the canopy tie released.

STORAGE: Store your umbrella in its sleeve to avoid any nicks, holes or scuffs. This will also protect the canopy from sun fade and general wear and tear when not in use.
The Blunt tips: If one of your tips looks pointy instead of curved when the umbrella is open, a tip may have become detached. This can simply be pushed back into place – see our tip replacement tutorial for guidance.

CLEANING: Use warm water and a clean cloth to wipe any marks off your canopy. Avoid the use of chemical detergents and bristle brushes as these can cause damage to the fabric. Blunt canopies are not machine washable, we recommend washing by hand.

OPENING: Dirt and debris can build up over time, creating friction as the umbrella is opened. Wipe the umbrella shaft with a damp cloth regularly to keep it clean.

REPAIRS: Blunt umbrellas are designed to be repairable. Although the umbrellas are built to withstand whatever nature throws your way, we know the unexpected can happen. This is when we look to repair before we replace.

While living in London and dealing with rainy commutes, Kiwi engineer Greig Brebner noticed how unsafe umbrellas were - being so tall, the spikes often poked him in the eye. He also noticed how umbrellas had become a throwaway commodity, mainly due to poor-quality materials and flimsy, outdated design.

So to save his eyes and reduce the number of broken umbrellas that end up as landfill each year, Greig set out to do something no one had done since 1928 - to re-invent the umbrella. And he began by re-designing the mechanisms.

Going right back to the drawing board, Greig married engineering innovation with no-fuss design styling to create something that exceeded even his own expectations: a ridiculously strong umbrella that could handle seriously wild weather.

After pushing countless prototypes to the limits in wind tunnels and on the blustery hills of Auckland, Greig finally did it. He'd re-invented the umbrella. And it just so happened to become the best umbrella in the world.
