Taking cues from the classic Banker’s Light, British designer John Tree merged archetypal references with his contemporary, colourful sensibility to create the Apex Lamp collection. The folded steel shades create a peaked roofline silhouette, providing the inspiration behind the series’ name as well as offering a graphic contrast to the chrome-plated bases.
The colourful steel shade rotates 360 degrees, allowing users to direct light to suit their needs.

With a background that includes working at both Sony and Jasper Morrison's design studios, John established his own practice in 2016.

John has been awarded an iF Design award in Hanover, the Red Dot design award, a Gold "G-Mark" Good Design award in Japan, been selected for the Millennium Product Collection, and has work in the permanent collection at MoMA.
Projects have been widely featured in publications including Domus, Casamica, Creative Review, Design Magazine, Elle Deco, Frame, Icon, I.D. Monocle and Wallpaper.
He holds numerous international patents, as both sole and joint inventor, is an occasional visiting tutor at the RCA and has been an external assessor at ECAL.
