“An immersive event celebrates the best of German design in a luxurious setting”
Thankyou Tanya Buchanan and Belle Magazine for featuring our recent project at Oasis Residences, South Melbourne. 🙏🏼
While browsing for furniture online comes with an open dress code and 24-7 timeframe, nothing beats seeing and touching the designs in their true form. So, with this in mind, Terri Winter of Top3 by Design is giving design enthusiasts a taste of ‘livable luxury’ with her ‘German Masters’ showcase event. Set within two penthouses at The Oasis Residences in South Melbourne, pieces from the likes of Freifrau, Janua, Rolf Benz and Bordbar sparkle against the contemporary backdrop. “More than just a showcase, the event is a celebration of the timeless craftsmanship and modern elegance that defines German design,” says Terri.
A captive audience of 110 Australian architects, interior designers and lucky Belle readers were the first to see the meticulously styled spaces, which can currently be viewed by appointment.
A celebration of texture and colour, both apartments have their own distinct palette and materials scheme. In particular, guests marvelled over the Freifrau ‘Marie, swivel armchair in its rich Tabacco velvet and Draenert’s versatile stone and steel bar trolley.
“Guests were genuinely delighted to see something that is different - different colours, different interpretations - all from the same showroom,” says Terri

Penthouse Apartment #1803
Apartment 1803 | Furnished and styled by top3 by design
Apartment 1803 channels a mood of natural luxury, where organic textures, sculptural forms, and a warm, grounded palette combine to create a haven of calm sophistication.
In contrast to its neighbouring penthouse, (Apartment 1804), this residence takes a softer, more understated approach—prioritising comfort, connection, and elegant informality.Though it offers a slightly smaller footprint than 1804, Apartment 1803 uses its space cleverly and intuitively. The signature "low-dining" concept redefines the dining experience—anchoring the living zone with the lowered Freifrau Marie armchairs and a stone-topped Janua low basket table. By lowering the dining height, the space flows seamlessly into the lounge area while creating a second, more intimate and bar-like dining zone. This approach not only enhances the apartment’s sense of openness but also delivers unexpected versatility.
The living space is warm and welcoming, with a deep sectional sofa in richly textured chocolate brown fabric set against a bold monochrome rug.
Sculptural lighting and circular side tables continue the apartment’s theme of gentle geometry and comfort-first elegance.
Although each bedroom has its own personality, the relaxed luxury continues with layered Missoni Home textiles in muted zigzag tones and richly textured throws.
The use of earthy tones, velvets, and opulent textured fabrics brings comfort and tactility to every corner.
Even the outdoor areas are treated with the same design ethos.
A quiet courtyard nook and terrace feature plush Freifrau Leyasol lounge chairs, surrounded by greenery and city views—an ideal escape that feels both urban and grounded.
Apartment 1803 offers a luxurious yet livable atmosphere, where clever spatial design meets tactile refinement. It’s a home that feels relaxed, elegant, and completely in tune with the way people truly want to live.
Penthouse Apartment #1804
Furnished and styled by top3 by design
Apartment 1804 is a masterclass in elevated living—where bold design choices meet soft elegance, and European luxury is woven seamlessly into an Australian context.
Every room in the penthouse has been thoughtfully furnished to reflect livable sophistication, with a refined mix of colours, materials, and textures creating depth and character throughout.
The heart of the home features the sculptural Rolf Benz Nuvola modular sofa in warm, woven sandy-toned upholstery with contrasting soft leather cushions in pale taupe and rusty terracotta. A rich burnt orange rug from Muuto grounds the Draenert Nebra marble-topped coffee table which adds the elegance of uniquily toned natural stone.
Nearby, the Freifrau Marie Swivel chair and footstool in mustard velvet with a sculptural copper floor lamp by Tom Dixon creates a golden glow in the reading nook—inviting you to sit awhile in the afternoon sun - and well into the evening, watching the city lights begin to twinkle across the city as darkness falls.
The dining area contrasts beautifully with a charburned and bronze pigmented oak Janua Butterfly table by Stefan Knopp, paired with plush Theia chairs, designed by Sebastien Herkner for Freifrau in deep burgundy, further build on the sculptural and rich warm palette of Penthouse 1804.
Floor to ceiling windows with soft sheers allow an abundance of light, enhancing the sense of volume and serenity in the space.
In the bedrooms, Italian Missoni Home textiles take centre stage—layered chevrons in black, blush, and earthy tones across beds and cushions create personality and vibrancy.
A rust-toned Moeller Design Slounge sofa in a secondary living zone provides both structure and softness, paired with sculptural wooden side tables from Draenert, echoing the penthouse’s emphasis on natural materials with architectural form.
A curved wall of glass in the Master Bedroom corner frames the cityscape while cradling a playful Freifrau armchair in coral pink and patterned fabric, layered with a zigzag pouf and an Akari standing lamp—infusing warmth, fun, colour and softness into the geometric setting.
The entire apartment is a testament to unexpected harmony—bold colours sit confidently beside restrained materials, and sculptural forms are softened by plush textures.
This is a space that invites conversation, celebrates design. Not just in form, but also in function. It feels like being in the best hotel, but ultimately feels like home.
Real Spaces, Real Impact
Terri and Bernd Winter were thrilled to be invited to furnish Penthouse 1803 and 1804 at the prestigious Oasis Residences in South Melbourne—a unique opportunity to showcase the German Masters Collective of brands in a truly elevated setting.
Every piece selected for the space was thoughtfully designed and meticulously made in Germany, reflecting a commitment to craftsmanship, innovation, and timeless design.
Taking the furniture out of the showroom and into this high-end, real-world environment offered a fresh and inspiring way to present the brands—allowing them to be experienced as they were intended: lived in, admired, and appreciated in a remarkable architectural context.
Complementing this refined aesthetic, the penthouses also feature striking lighting by Tom Dixon and Vira, with luxurious textile accessories by Missoni, bringing together the best of European design in a bold, contemporary statement.
