Dana Dion is an award-winning Australian contemporary artist known for her evocative abstract landscapes.

Inspired by water, vegetation and changing light, her paintings capture the atmosphere of nature as it is felt and remembered.

Dana Dion works from her studio in Sydney, where she has dedicated herself full time to painting since 2005. She studied at Emily Carr University in Vancouver and the Hampstead School of Art in London, with further professional development under American artist and educator Steven Aimone.

Dion is primarily a studio painter. Rather than depicting a particular landscape, she works from accumulated memories, observations and sensations. Her paintings develop through a continuing dialogue with the work as forms emerge, disappear and reappear across the surface.

Recurring horizontal structures, organic shapes and fragments suggest elements of landscape without describing them literally. Bold, physical passages are balanced by softer, more vulnerable moments, giving each painting its own rhythm and emotional presence.

Dion has exhibited widely and received numerous awards for her work. Her paintings are held in private and public collections in Australia and internationally.
