One, two, three barmy birds. Ichinisan make for an offbeat trio, sure to put a smile on your face. Crazy and cute, with an exclusive look due to the dark wood and meticulous design.

"When we design, we sometimes narrow down our own playing field, because this often helps us come up with a surprising twist, which we might never have considered otherwise. In this case, we set ourselves the task of using six sticks for each bird. As a result, the tails are made from one, two or three sticks. The number three became the common denominator for the figures", designer Beaverhausen explains.

Consequently, the height varies by 3cm between each of the birds, who have been given the names Ichi-Ni-San; meaning one, two, three in Japanese. The group consists of a penguin, a parrot and a robin.

ICHI the penguin is the tallest in the group. He gets his eccentric character from his funky lopsided wings, his slender body and his distinctive eye region.

Then there's NI the parrot, with his big beak and gawky figure. The exotic bird with the calm appearance is the kind-hearted peacekeeper of the group. Even shorter than his parrot friend beside him, SAN the robin is a charismatic little roubadour with a beaky look on his face.

IchiNiSan can be placed side by side or stacked on top of one another like a sort of lively totem pole. Their strong individual personalities allow them to sit just as nicely by themselves.

Jan Anderson and Poul Madsen teamed up to create the Normann Copenhagen brand in 1999 with a vision to make a difference in the design industry. Three years later they launched the first product, the lamp Norm 69. Within five years more than 38 products followed, as well as collaborations with established design names and new talent from around the world.

In 2005, Jan and Poul moved from a small design store at Strandboulevarden to an old 1700m2 cinema at Osterbro in Copenhagen. They were determined to create a unique retail environment that would add something new and exciting to Copenhagen. Today the store has not only won several prizes as the coolest design store in Copenhagen, but also serves as a platform for great parties, fashion events, art exhibitions as well as small happenings. Normann Copenhagen loves to challenge the conventional design rules. This is why you will find traditional materials put into untraditional use such as a washing-up bowl in rubber, a vase made out of Silicon and last but not least a dog made out of plastic. Normann Copenhagen is a way of living - a mindset, a way to view the world in a new and different way.

Beaverhausen is a self-taught design studio founded by Mimy A. Diar and Ad Luijten, based in Brussels. Both designers have a background as Art Directors in advertising, which shines through in the strong sense of storytelling that recurs in all of their design projects.
Beaverhausen describe their designs as visual stories manifested in furniture, accessories, lighting and interiors. Inspiration is found in their surroundings, especially in the beautiful and electric city of Brussels where they also live.

“The Dutch word for designer is ‘vormgever’, which literally means ‘form giver’. For us that’s a good way of looking at design. Every day we are interacting with objects that all have been given a form by someone. What we especially like are the objects that communicate their function clearly through their form and on top of that have lots of personality.” says the designers.
