Danish brand Rosti's story starts in the early 1940 when a two-crown loan becomes the start of a lifelong partnership and friendship. In 1944, during the difficult times of the Second World War, Rolf Fahrenholtz and Stig Jorgensen founded Rosti. During and after the war, many materials were in short supply, and after initially producing in Bakelite, Rosti began experimenting with melamine plastic from the USA for the production of press-moulded tableware and kitchenware. The production was kick-started, and Rosti received its largest-ever order when the Danish Armed Forces recognised the material’s extraordinary durability and ordered plates for its food services. In the 1950’s Rosti was the only manufacturer of melamine in Denmark.
Rosti is a Danish brand that was founded in 1944 by Rolf Fahrenholtz and Stig Jørgensen. The brand’s most famous product is the Margrethe mixing bowl, which in 1954 was named after the current Danish Queen Margrethe II (with the permission from the Danish Royal). Rosti manufactures long-lasting products with a focus on functionality, quality, colour and Danish design. Many of Rosti’s products that were launched in the 1950s and 1960s are still in production and are sold all over the world. Rosti’s ambition is to be a global design brand with the Margrethe mixing bowl as its flagship product, and the brand will also continue to develop new concepts and products based on the same design philosophy as before.
